1) Jyotirlinga in Somnath is the first Jyotirlinga not only in the country but in the world. The temple is located on the Arabian Sea in Kathiawar, Gujarat. According to Shiva Purana, when the moon was cursed by Daksha Prajapati she had tuberculosis. Moon then regretted the place to end the curse.

One stream flows to the north and another to the south of the mountain. The southern stream is considered to be a major stream. Because of the Narmada river that flows around the hill, the formation of Om is built here. Therefore the name of this Jyotirlinga was Omkareshwar.

5) Kedareshwar Jyotirlinga is situated on the Kedar peak of Parvatraj Himalaya. In the western part of the peak, there is a temple of Kedareshwar Mahadev on the banks of river Mandakini. To the east of the peak is the famous temple of Badrinath on the banks of Alaknanda. Both Alaknanda and Mandakini rivers come down and meet at Rudraprayag. When the combined stream of both the rivers comes down further, it comes here at Devprayag and joins the Bhagirathi Ganga. Due to this, those who take a bath in the holy Ganges can easily touch the water that washes the feet of Kedareshwar and Badrinath. Lord Shiva considers Kedarnath as his abode. The height of Baba Kedarnath temple is 11 thousand 7 hundred feet above sea level. At the same time, the height of the meditation cave built one and a half km away from the temple complex is about 12 thousand 250 feet

6) Bhimashankar Jyotirling is located on the Sahyadri mountain, a hundred kilometers from the city of Pune in Maharashtra. Situated at an altitude of 3250 feet, the Shivling established in this temple is quite big and thick. For this reason this temple is also known as Moteshwar Mahadev

 7) Darshan of Lord Jagannath in Puri Kashi Vishwanath Jyotirling is situated on the banks of the Ganges in the city of Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. 8) Trimbakeshwar Jyotirlinga is situated on the banks of river Gautami, 35 km from Nashik city of Maharashtra. Nearest to it is the Brahmagiri mountain. The Godavari river, also known as the Gautami river, starts from this mountain. It is said that Shiva had to stay here in the form of Jyotirlinga on the request of Maharishi Gautam. The specialty of Trimbakeshwar is that there are three small Shivlings installed together. They are considered to be the symbols of the three gods Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva. This Jyotirlinga made of black stones looks very beautiful to see. 

9) When Vaidyanath Jyotirling is found in Jharkhand, it is called the 'home of the gods' i.e. Deoghar. Finding this Jyotirlinga, Ravana made great remorse for King Shiva on Mount Kailas. Among the twelfth Jyotirlingas, the only Baidyanath Jyotirlinga is home to both Shiva and Shakti. According to the Puranas, Mama Shakti's heart was cut off here due to the beating of the Sudarshan Chakra. For this reason he is one of 51 Shaktipeeths. During the Shravani festival in the month of Sawan, a large crowd of Canadians gather here to donate Gangajal. All the wishes of the Shiva devotees who come here are fulfilled. For this reason the Shivling is also called 'Kamna Linga'. 

10) When Bholenath offers such Darshan Nageshwar Jyotirling is 17 kilometers from Dwarka in Gujarat. In the inscriptions, Lord Shiva is described as the god of snakes. The full description of Nageshwar and is the God of serpents. It is a well-known story that Bholenath persuaded a devout Supriya to exterminate a demon named Daruk by giving Pashupat a weapon. Due to the founding of Rama, this Jyotirlinga was renamed Rameshwaram. This temple is related to Ramayana. It is believed that before climbing Lanka, Shri Ramchandra ji served it by making Shivling in the sand here. The Rameshwaram Temple is also known as the Ramanathaswamy Temple. The importance of the town of Kashi in northern India is similar to that of Rameswaram in the south. 

12) Ghrishneshwar Jyotirling is located in Verul, about 30 kilometers from Aurangabad in Maharashtra. Ghushmeshwar Temple is located near Ajanta and Ellora Caves. This last Jyotirlinga of Lord Shiva is a way of dedicating oneself to a person most devoted to Ghushma. Lord Shiva has appeared here to revive whose son. There is a lake near the temple, known as Shivalaya. In this lake, devout Ghushma used to immerse Shivlings made by him. She had found her son alive on the shore of the lake.
