Kullu Manali

Hello Friends! Today let's go on a sightseeing tour of Manali. We had completed our journey from Delhi to Manali by traveling overnight by car and this story has been narrated in the previous article. The road from Kullu to Manali along the banks of the river Vyas is full of beautiful and beautiful views. When we were walking from Kullu towards Manali, on the way we stopped at a Dhaba-cum-restaurant on the banks of river Vyas for tea and breakfast, where we quenched our hunger by having breakfast of hot parathas of tea and potatoes. had done Continuing our journey after breakfast, we had reached the Green Tax Barrier, about one and a half km before Manali, to enter into the city of Manali from here we probably took about Rs.300/- as Green Tax. Pay in After paying the tax (23 June 2010) around 9 am we reached a place named Mall Road in Manali city. It took us around 14 hours to reach Manali from Delhi.

Although Manali is populated with tourists and strollers throughout the year, yet the best time to visit Manali is from April to June in summer and from January to March in winter if you want to enjoy snowfall.

The word Manali in history means "abode of Manu", i.e. the origin of the name of Manali is from the first man Manu. By the first person, we mean that later when the world was devastated, then the whole world was devastated and at that time only Manu could survive and from this Manu ji had rebuilt man in the world. Hence the name of this place was named Manali after Manu.

At present, Manali's popularity tops in the country and abroad and its name comes at the top of the main hill stations of India. Manali is a heaven for those who celebrate Madhuyamini, most of the newly married couples keep the name of this place at the top of their list instead of celebrating Honeymoon. Nowadays Manali has developed as a honeymoon point and you will see most of the new couples walking in arms and expressing their love in the plains of Manali. From many cities, as a honeymoon package, complete arrangements for the new couple to visit here are made by the travel agent at a good level. In the summer season, the shade of Manali is created by seeing greenery all around, fragrant clean air, and pleasant weather. In the summer season, thousands of tourists come here to get rid of the heat of the plains. In winter, the temperature here drops below -2°C degrees and the valleys are covered with a white sheet of snow.

Now let's move on to our travelogue. It was morning and at this time there was peace in the markets and streets and there was no crowd, some local people were busy with their daily activities. Some shops were opening here and some were getting ready to open. The feeling of any new place is different, we were experiencing something similar here too. Well, we parked our car near Mall Road seeing an empty space in the street. Now our first task was to find a good and affordable room in a good hotel. I and my younger brother started looking for rooms in the mall road and its surrounding streets, in many budget hotels, rooms were not found vacant, but the hotel and room we liked was much outside our budget and the streets of Manali We did not like the cheap rooms I was getting.

We had been wandering for about half an hour and our search for the room was not over yet. suddenly a local boy follow us and after some time said to us, "Sir! You want a room, if you say, there is a good hotel nearby, I will show you a good room in your budget, you will definitely like it". Where did we say "Ok brother! Let's take where is that hotel, let's see its rooms too". He took us to a nice hotel located on a street near Mall Road, from where the Buddhist Monastery of Manali was in front.

The boy talked to the manager of the hotel and the manager gave some keys to his waitress to show us the rooms above. The waiter showed us some rooms and a room on the first floor was understood because this room was clean, nice and airy. There was enough space in this room and his bathroom was also clean. Going down to the counter asked the manager to book the room and after bargaining a little, he agreed to give the room at Rs.800/- per day including all taxes. This hotel was also very clean and the best feature was its own underground parking worthy of 4-5 cars. We got the facility to park our car here. We parked the car in the parking lot of the hotel and got all our belongings to our room with the help of waiter. Now let me also tell you the name of this hotel, the name of this hotel is → "Hotel Tirupati Classic" and it is just a few steps away from the mall road and we find all the staff and manager here friendly. For convenience, the visiting card of this hotel has been put in the form of a photo in this article, and this card will be of some use in planning your future visits.

We were very tired due to being awake all night, wandered around the streets and mall road of Manali for some time and then after giving up exhausted, returned to the room to rest, sitting in the room did not know When did you fall asleep? Woke up from sleep at around four in the evening and after taking a bath, getting ready to visit the sights around Manali. What are the places to visit in Manali and where we should go and took information from the manager of the hotel, then he wrote the names of all the places around Manali on plain paper and gave it to us and also gave the way to our car driver. Explained that although our car driver had already come to Manali, so he also had the experience of some way to Manali. The places to visit in Manali that we were told are as follows:-

First Day Tour Schedule →

(1.) Hadimba Devi Temple (2.) Tibetan Monastery (3.) Club House (4)Van Vihar

Second-day tour schedule →

(1.) Nehru Kund (2.) Kothi (3.) Gulaba (4.) Rahala Waterfall (5.) Mehri (6.) Rani Nala (7.) Rohtang Pass (8) Solang Valley & Temple etc.

We didn't have enough time and days for this entire tour to go as per schedule. We selected some good places according to our convenience and took it out of the car parking around 5.15 pm and after everyone got into the car, in a short time, the most famous temple of Manali Hadimba, through the winding path behind the Mall Road. Devi reached the temple.

Hadimba Devi Temple: The main attraction of Manali is the distance of Hadimba Devi Temple, Mall Road is about two km and this temple falls at a place named Dhungri of Manali. There is a good market developed around the temple complex, small and big shops of clothes, sweaters, toys, food, and drink, etc. made from various types of local goods that will be found here. There is a good arrangement of car parking in front of the temple, we got our car parked in the parking lot after cutting the slip and went towards the temple. We entered the temple premises through the main iron gate and went through a beautiful path to reach the main temple. This temple complex is surrounded by high dense deodar trees (Dhungri forest) and the path passes through beautiful gardens.

This temple is built on a high platform and there is a wide staircase to go up. The temple was very crowded at this time and a long line was standing even further down the stairs for the darshan of Hadimba Devi. We also lined up to see the goddess, after waiting in line for about half an hour, we reached the sanctum sanctorum located in the cave of the temple. In the sanctum sanctorum, the lighting was low and the crowd was high, barely saw Hadimba Devi, prayed for her, took her blessings, and came out, escaping from the crowd inside.

Hadimba Devi Temple is a beautiful ancient temple made of wood in pagoda style. This temple was built around 1553. The height of this very unique temple is about 40 meters. The square roof and top, made of wood, have a conical shape, which is overlaid with brass. Many horns of wild animals are hung outside the temple and under the roof, which seems to display the splendour of the temple. The people of Manali and the dynasty of Kullu worship Hadimba Devi as Kuldevi and have been worshiping here for centuries. There is also an ancient temple of Ghatotkacha at a distance of few steps behind the main temple.

In history, there was a demon named Hadimba who was killed in a fierce battle by the hands of Bhima, the most powerful and giant of the five Pandavas. Hidimba, the sister of the demon Hadimba, is very sad to know this and she wants to take revenge of her brother's killing on the Pandavas Pandavas. Hadimba is fascinated by the appearance of Bhima and on the orders of their mother, Kunti marries Bhima and later brings up a child from both of them, Ghatotkacha. When the time comes, for the help of her father Bhima in the war of Mahabharata, with a very generous heart, she sends her son Ghatotkacha to the battlefield of Kurukshetra, where he fights bravely and attains Veergati. Thus Hadimba gives the message of an ideal woman and the people of Himachal regard and worships her as a goddess with great reverence.

After the darshan of Hadimba Devi Ji, enjoy the nature around the temple for a while and also took some photos of the temple and its surroundings. Near the temple there is Dhumri Van Vihar to enjoy the dense forest area, Ticket has to be taken to enter it and it opens according to the time, but at this time the Van Vihar was closed for entry and that's why we are not allowed to go there. were deprived. A few steps away from the temple there is a Ghatotkacha temple, we must have visited there. We found the atmosphere of the temple very picturesque when we were walking in the temple premises and taking photos of the children when two women came to us with big size cute white color beautiful rabbits in their hands and said “Photo of children with rabbits Take it, give ten rupees for taking a photo with a rabbit. We said, "No! . In the end, we accepted his request and took two rabbits for ten rupees for photographing and after taking the photo, returned them too. In the temple premises, many more such women were looking for customers with rabbits in their hands.

After spending some time there, he came out of the temple, when a man was seen carrying a yak near the temple boundary wall. Our children were very happy to see a different kind of animal in front because they had only read "Y FOR YAK" in the books till now and saw a sketch photo of it. Yak is an animal of cow/buffalo species found in a high and snowy mountainous area, which has long hair to protect against winter and it eats mountain grass, chaff. The hill people take out the milk of the female yak and also use it. We requested that man to take a photo sitting on the yak, then he refused us in order to reach somewhere early, still, we took a photo of that yak

After that, we returned to the car parked in our parking lot. Just adjacent to the parking lot there was an Appu Ghar for the entertainment of the children, whose swings, a small artificial lake, some exciting games (walking on rope bridge, etc.) were visible from the parking lot. We had no intention of going to Appu Ghar so got into the car and headed towards our next entertainment venue, Manali Club House.

Manali Club House: After a time gap of about ten minutes, we reached the clubhouse. Manali Club House is a recreational tourist spot situated near the old Manali town on the banks of river Manalsu and Manali Bus Stand is about one and a half kilometers away. The Manalsu River is a tributary of the Beas River which passes through the Club House and further joins the Beas River. The clubhouse is developed and operated by Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (HPTDC). The clubhouse is an ideal place to entertain the visitors, and there are many indoor games and outdoor games facilities available. The clubhouse has a large hall for a variety of functions, a skating room, carrom table, table tennis, a billiard room, a bar, a disco (Only of Couples), a restaurant and small local food and drink shops. In the presence of nature, exciting games on the banks of the Manalsu river like crossing the river by hanging on a rope and through a rope bridge, boating in the artificial canal, playing cricket with netting, parks for children's entertainment, etc. will be found in some clubhouses. Manali Club House is a wonderful place for a picnic.

There was a good arrangement of car parking in the clubhouse. Before entering the clubhouse, an “Entry Ticket” has to be taken, which is Rs.10/- per person. We took the entry ticket and parked the car in the parking lot and started walking inside the clubhouse. All the means of entertainment are available in the clubhouse. While walking we reached the safe bank of river Manalsu located at Club House. The water of the river was flowing very fast when I put my hand in the water, it was as cold as ice. Here some people were enjoying the pleasure of crossing the river with the help of rope (rope bridge and hanging on rope) under the supervision of skilled people. When we asked a man who crossed the river the money for this exciting game, he told Rs.100/- for one round. We found it very expensive, well, we kept on having fun on the banks of this river and also did a little photography.

After sitting on the banks of the Manalsu river for a long time, we left from there. While walking inside the clubhouse, the children came across an amusement park fitted with small swings and Mickey Mouse in the air and asked to go there. The ticket for a child to enter this amusement park in the clubhouse was Rs 50/-, we took the tickets and sent the children to the park. There was no separate ticket for anyone except a couple of swings inside the park. Children had a lot of fun in this park, they can swing whatever they want, they fill their hearts. When he got tired, he started telling me to walk.

As soon as we came out of the park, some stall-like shops of different types of food items were seen in the club house. This is where I enjoyed a little food and drink, but the food items here were very expensive. Now after spending a lot of time in this clubhouse, we went back from here.

Mall Road: Around eight o'clock we reached Mall Road by car and sent the car driver back to the hotel. Our hotel was just a short distance from the mall road. Cars or other vehicles are strictly prohibited on Mall Road after 5 o'clock in the evening. On the other hand, a separate road to go by a car is arranged behind the mall road and our hotel was on the other side of the mall road (the road towards Kullu).

During the night, there was a lot of crowd on Mall Road, which is called the heart of Manali. At this time, the beauty of this place was made on sight, it seemed that a big fair was held. Most of the people were sitting on the divider built in the middle of the road, erasing the tiredness caused by their day's travel and enjoying the beauty of the Mall Road. On the Mall Road, masseurs and girl hair sellers were walking here and there in search of customers and urging people to take their services. Mall Road is the main market of Manali, there was a variety of hot clothes, local and branded goods shops, big hotels, small and big restaurants and on the other side of the road, there was a mother temple, a State Bank of India ATM. We also roamed here for a long time. On Mall Road we saw a man on the edge of a street selling very small black gulab jamuns (sweets), we had never seen such small gulab jamuns before. When asked the price, four Gulab Jamun worth five rupees. Come on, we also tasted it and at the same time enjoyed the pani-puri here from a pot standing next to it.

While walking here on the Mall Road, the time had passed and it was nine o'clock and now it was time for dinner. Looked for a nice restaurant on the mall road but it was very crowded and the space was not empty, soon after getting the space, sat around a table and after seeing the menu, ordered food of your choice. We found the food of this restaurant very tasty. After having our food, we walked back to our hotel on Mall Road. Our program for yesterday was to wake up early in the morning and go to Rohtang Pass.

Now I give this break to this Manali travel article and in the next article, the highest point of Himachal Pradesh and the roadway “Rohtang Pass and Solang Valley".
